Alive Labs pilots prototype with Sustainable Ventures
2nd April 2024
Alive Labs installed its first working prototype wall at Sustainable Ventures, the home of Climate Tech, situated in Westminster’s County Hall. This was a major milestone for the company, proving system efficacy and building confidence in the Alive System.
Sustainable Ventures is the largest climate tech incubator in Europe, having helped to scale over 450 start-ups and SMEs developing solutions which combat environmental decline, and raising £950 million in the process. As such it provides the perfect home for Alive Labs’ signature installation and world’s first carbon-negative living moss cladding system.
Comprising the Alive System are:
Terranite, AL’s low-carbon concrete, designed for bioreceptivity
AL’s high performing biomass comprising lab-cultured moss species
Modular panelling organised in a dynamic geometry
Passive irrigation and vertical lighting
The intensive two years of innovation funded by the Innovate UK Smart Grant were conducted with the vision to install at SV, and as such this very first working prototype produced by Alive Labs is both our internal validation piece and prima facie installation, marking a step towards the future of truly green cladding.
